About Kasandra

I’m Kasandra.

I write about my own healing, trauma, family, identity, and the parts of life that I have found difficult to make sense of.

For a long time, I didn’t have the language to understand much of what I was experiencing. I knew that certain things affected me, that some situations felt bigger than they seemed like they should, and that there were parts of myself and my story I couldn’t fully explain.

I also knew how to keep going. Like many people, I became very good at functioning. At carrying things quietly and continuing with life. It wasn’t until much later in life, that I began to understand how much of what I had experienced was affecting me.

My healing journey is ongoing and I am learning about trauma, the nervous system, emotional regulation, memory, grief, identity, and what it means to feel safe. It has also involved questioning things I once believed about myself and beginning to understand the difference between who I am and the ways I learned to survive.

That process has not been linear. There have been moments of clarity, moments of grief, moments of resistance, and moments where I have had to begin again.

Why I write

I write because putting words to my experience has helped me move forwad. Sometimes we know something is happening inside us long before we have the language to explain what it is. Writing has become one of the ways I process what I am learning and make sense of my own experiences.

I write about the things I am discovering along the way — sometimes through personal reflection, sometimes through poetry, and sometimes through the everyday moments that reveal something I hadn’t noticed before.

I don’t write as someone who has everything figured out. I write from within the process. And I hope that my writing helps others.

This space

Healing Kasandra Dee is a place for my writing, reflections, and the things I am learning as I continue to understand my own story.

Some of what I write may be difficult, but I always aim to be hopeful. I share my story because I know how powerful it can be to find words that make you feel less alone.

If something here resonates with you, I hope you take what is useful and leave what isn’t.

I’m still learning. Still healing.Still becoming. And you’re welcome to walk alongside me for some of the journey.
